Janet started training at Jump’n Java in 2004 with Maggie, an Australian Shepherd. Maggie has earned her Agility Dog Championship (ADCH) in USDAA, and two Agility Trial Championships (ATCH) in the Australian Shepherd Club of America (ASCA). Maggie ranked 13th in the Nation for the 2012 ASCA show season. This ranking qualified her to compete in the 2012 Australian Shepherd Club Agility Nationals where she was the Winner of the Agility Finals.
Janet finds it intriguing how her agility training and handling skills continue to change, and believes the only limitations are those that are self-imposed due to time constraints. Janet works as a Physical Therapy Assistant, primarily in geriatric settings, which requires consistent communication, timing, and patience; the same qualities necessary for training our dogs, and teaching others.
Substitute teaching for other Java instructors since 2011, Janet finds aiding-in and watching students’ progress very rewarding. She believes no two teams are alike, and all require the same individual approach that she takes when working with her patients.
