  • 2 x 2 and Channel Weave pole methods focused upon
  • Independent weave pole performance emphasized, including entries, exits, footwork, varying handler position (lateral distance, front/rear crossing, etc)

We meet every other week; teams practice skills covered between sessions and then we build upon them.

Awesome Contacts: The Proof is in the Proofing!! Let’s obsess on proofing contacts for stellar contact obstacle performance both in practice and in competition…

  • Taking inventory on our setting clear criteria and remaining consistent.
  • Assessing dog’s understanding of the criteria we’ve set.
  • Varying handler’s position.
  • Wild ‘n Crazy proofing including, kiddie pools, sprinklers, Chuck-its/toys sailing by, flying cheese sticks, brooms (for dogs that like that sweeping motion).

Level: All teams, but must be able to do full height contact obstacles and have trained contact performance behavior (at least in practice). Two feet on/off focus.

Contacts, Turns ‘n Tunnels: Train and perfect..

  • Turns off of contact obstacles, both turning away and towards handler.
  • Tunnels sends from contacts, including setting the line for straight and opposite end of tunnel discrimination.

Level: All teams, but must be able to do full height obstacles.
Two-part workshop; must attend both. Part 1 focuses on understanding and training the basic skills; Part 2 focuses on applying these skills to sequences.

Double Box Workshops: Develop a much clearer understanding of core agility handling techniques and the behaviors that they cue.

  • Review of Traditional Handling (Derrett)
  • Front crosses (understand the three core components each efficient front should have)
  • Rear crosses (learn how to effectively cue the dog for a rear cross from 15-20 feet back)
  • Serpentines (perfect timing of arm-changes and footwork)
  • Threadles (placement, simple guidelines for footwork, moving vs. stationary)

Level: Novice through Masters levels teams.
